Application for Membership
The undersigned hereby applies to become a member of Malaysian Association of Asset Managers ("MAAM") and agrees, if this application is accepted by the Committee, to abide by its Rules, a copy of which is sent upon approval of membership.


Completing the Application Form - Read Me First

The Application Form below is to be used by

  • New applicants for Membership in MAAM – please see 1 below
  • Employees in existing Members of MAAM – please see 2 to 7 below. All employees are eligible to register as Users. If your firm is an affiliate of a member of MAAM e.g.,
    • your firm is the unit trust management company related to a Member,
    • is a Islamic fund management firm related to a Member,
    please do not use this Application Form – please send a separate email to Executive Director, Teck Chye See at steck@maam.org.my.

Membership

1. Any organisation :
    (a) who :
          (1) carries on the business of asset management in Malaysia; and
          (2) is :
                (i) the holder of a current fund manager's licence under the Securities Industry Act, 1983; or
                (ii) the holder of a current futures fund manager's licence under the Futures Industry Act, 1993; or
                (iii) an exempt fund manager under the Securities Industry Act, 1983; or
                (iv) an exempt futures fund manager under the Committee, qualifies for 1993; and
   (b) or class of organisation who, at the discretion of the Committee, qualifies for membership of the Association.

   may apply for membership of the Association.

2. A copy of each relevant licence(s) mentioned in 1 above must be enclosed with the Application Form and submitted to the     Association on an annual basis with the annual subscription fee.

3. Each member may nominate not more than 2 Representatives to attend and vote at general meetings, to issue and receive all     notices and generally transact all business relating to the Association. The acts of each nominated representative whose name is     entered in the Register of the Association will bind that member regardless of whether or not that nominated representative was     authorised to act on its behalf generally or in relation to that matter.

4. The Applicant will provide the full names and addresses of the nominated representatives.





Application and Approval

1. The Applicant must complete and return the Application Form to the Association for consideration.

2. The Committee will consider the application and may in its absolute discretion approve or reject an application for membership in     accordance with the Rules.

3. The Association will notify the Applicant upon approval or rejection of application. The Applicant becomes a member upon     payment of the entrance fee and annual subscription fee.





Entrance Fees, Annual Subscriptions and Levies

1. Admission fees and annual subscriptions are payable by members for the year commencing January 1 2003.

2. Admission fees are payable on approval of membership. The amount is for RM10,000/-. The Committee reserves the right to
    determine such other sum from time to time subject to the Rules.

3. Annual fees are payable upon approval of membership. The amount is for RM5,000/-. Members joining the Association after
    January 1, 2003 pay a prorata proportion of the annual subscription from the date of approval. The Committee reserves the right to
    determine such other sum from time to time subject to the Rules.

4. The Committee reserves the right to impose a levy on all members in addition to the annual subscription fee subject to the Rules.

5. The Committee may suspend a member's right and privileges if the annual subscription of the member or a levy payable by the member remains unpaid for 2 calendar months after it becomes due.

6. All cheques are to be made out to the "MALAYSIAN ASSOCIATION OF ASSET MANAGERS".





Cessation of Membership

1. A member ceases to be a member if :
    a) the member resigns from membership of the Association;
    b) the annual subscription of the member or levy payable by the member remains unpaid for 6 calendar months or, if paid, the
         member's rights and privileges are not reinstated.
    c) the member enters into liquidation or is wound up or dissolved as the case may be; or
    d) the Committee makes a determination in accordance with Rule 6.3 of the Rules.

2. A member ceases to be a member if its licence(s) is revoked/suspended by the Authorities granting the licence(s).
